Why the National Address Is Required
Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has issued Decision No. 1/46/196, which mandates that all last-mile shipments include a valid National Address starting January 1, 2026.
Shipments that do not contain a National Address will not be accepted by carriers.
| Requirement | Details | Example |
|---|---|---|
| National Address format | 8-character alphanumeric code | RNMA7272 |
| Applies to | Orders shipping to Saudi Arabia (SA) | Destination country = SA |
| Effective date | Mandatory for carrier acceptance | January 1, 2026 |
Important: Orders missing a valid National Address will be rejected by last-mile delivery partners.
Enable the Company Field at Checkout
Shopify does not yet provide a dedicated National Address field. The recommended approach is to use the existing Company field at checkout.
- Open Shopify Admin: Go to Settings → Checkout
- Locate Company name: Find the Company field setting
- Change visibility: Set it to Required (recommended) or Optional
- Save changes: Click Save
This action adds the Company field to the checkout address form.
Rename the Company Field
Next, update the field labels so customers understand that this field is for the National Address.
- Go to themes: Open Online Store → Themes
- Edit language content: Click … → Edit default theme content
- Open checkout text: Select Checkout & System
- Search for: company
| Original Text | Update To |
|---|---|
| Company | National Address (Saudi Arabia) |
| Company name | e.g. RNMA7272 |
Save your changes once the labels have been updated.
How Quiqup Uses This Field
Shopify stores the Company field internally as:
shipping_address.company
Quiqup automatically maps this value as the National Address when creating shipments to Saudi Arabia.
Result: No additional configuration is required once the field is enabled and renamed.
Important Notes
- This setup works on all Shopify plans (Shopify Plus is not required)
- Only the label changes — Shopify still stores the value as the Company field
- You may customize the label text or language if required
- Disabling the field will prevent Saudi shipments from being processed
Reminder: In line with the TGA regulation, shipments without a National Address will be rejected by the carrier.
